Guitar Lessons!

Dear BASIC-ers!

Happy Chinese New Year to all of you dear people! Pray that you guys have meaningful week ahead, taking a break from school/NS/work and reconnecting with your family! May the Lord also open our eyes to possible evangelistic opportunities in this period!

As some of you may know, BASIC will be offering guitar lessons to all beginners! Details are below:

Day: Saturday
Time: 4-5pm
Location: SBC
Start date: Not confirmed yet, but possibly on the 12th or 19th
Requirements: NONE! No matter how old or if you’re in BASIC or not!

Don’t worry if you don’t have a guitar on hand, we can always find a way to pass you one for practice!

Likewise, if your friends outside BASIC want to learn the guitar as well, do invite them along! Its free!!!

Six (Surprisingly Simple!) Suggestions for Successful Singing – for the musical and non-musical alike!

You are invited to spend a morning on Feb 20, 9-12pm with Johnny Burns as he shares six (surprisingly simple!) suggestions on how to enhance the way you lead singing with children/youth in your kids/youth program. Johnny has spend the last decade on a quest to write songs that reflect the heart of God, are true to Scripture and which connect with kids and youths across ages. His 3rd CD of praise songs, Unreal Banana Peel, has been released and is being used by churches around the world. He combines his love of pop and rock music, with his background as a child psychologist, to bring a unique approach to kids and youth worship. This workshop will provide some ‘brain food’ about what we are trying to do with kids’ and youths’ singing, as well as some practical demonstrations of how Johnny leads singing.

Johnny lives in Sydney with his wife and three children; enjoys spicy Asian food; belongs to a suburban conservative/evangelical church; and likes to wrestle rhinoceroses.*
